AI Voice Agent Pricing in India (2026): What ₹5 a Minute Really Covers

AI voice agent pricing in India explained: what ₹5 a minute all-inclusive covers, how per-started-minute billing adds up, and a worked monthly bill.

By Ramnath G

"How much does an AI voice agent cost per minute?" is the first question almost every business owner asks us — and it is the right question, because AI calling is billed very differently from a telecaller's salary. This guide explains exactly what Botify charges for its AI Voice Agent, what the ₹5 per minute rate includes, how per-started-minute billing works in practice, what a realistic monthly bill looks like, and what to check before you sign up with any AI calling provider in India.

The short answer

  • ₹5 per minute, all-inclusive — call charges, speech recognition, the voice and the AI in one rate.
  • Charged per started minute, for inbound and outbound calls alike.
  • Paid from a prepaid wallet. There are no free minutes on any plan.
  • A Botify voice number (an Indian +91 number) is ₹500 per month.
  • The AI Voice Agent is included in the Pro plan (₹6,999/month) and the Enterprise plan (₹29,999/month).
  • All prices exclude 18% GST. No add-ons are sold.

That is the whole price list. The rest of this article explains what sits behind each line, so you can estimate your own bill with confidence.

What ₹5 a minute actually covers

An AI phone call is not one service; it is several running together in real time. When a caller speaks, the audio has to travel over the phone network, be converted into text, be understood and answered by an AI model, and the answer has to be spoken back in a natural voice — typically within about 1 to 1.5 seconds. Each of those steps has a cost. Some providers bill them separately. Botify bundles them into one per-minute rate.

1. Telecom call charges

The cost of carrying the call over the Indian phone network, inbound or outbound, on your +91 number. You do not need a separate telecom plan or a SIM for the AI.

2. Speech recognition

Turning what the caller says into text the AI can understand — including mixed speech such as Tanglish and Hinglish, and switching languages when the caller does. The agent works in English, Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and other Indian languages.

3. The voice

Converting the AI's reply back into speech, using a natural Indian female voice. There is no separate charge for a different language.

4. The AI conversation

The model that follows your briefing, asks qualifying questions, answers FAQs, handles 'call me later' and 'not interested', saves details to the Botify CRM, sends a proposal or PDF on WhatsApp during the call, and live-transfers the caller to your team when needed. All of this is inside the same ₹5.

How per-started-minute billing works

Billing is per started minute. In plain terms, any part of a minute counts as a full minute. A few examples, before GST:

  • A 40-second COD confirmation call → 1 minute → ₹5.
  • A 1 minute 5 second reminder call → 2 minutes → ₹10.
  • A 2 minute 50 second lead qualification call → 3 minutes → ₹15.
  • A 6 minute 10 second inbound enquiry → 7 minutes → ₹35.

Two things follow from this. First, very short calls are cheap: a one-question confirmation costs ₹5. Second, a tightly written briefing that gets to the point saves money on every call — more on that below.

What a realistic monthly bill looks like

Let us work through an illustrative example. Suppose a business gets about 300 leads a month and wants the AI to call each one, with calls averaging 2 billed minutes.

  • Call minutes: 300 calls × 2 minutes = 600 minutes × ₹5 = ₹3,000
  • Voice number: ₹500
  • Pro plan (includes the AI Voice Agent): ₹6,999
  • Subtotal: ₹10,499
  • GST at 18%: about ₹1,890
  • Total: about ₹12,389 for the month

Double the volume to 600 calls at the same length and the call-minute line becomes ₹6,000; everything else stays the same. The plan and number are fixed; the call minutes move with your usage. If you want to try different numbers, the cost calculator on our AI Voice Agent page does this arithmetic for you.

Estimate your own voice cost

What is not in the price

Being clear about what you do not get is as important as what you do. There are no free minutes on any Botify plan — every minute, including your first test calls, is billed from the prepaid wallet. Prices exclude 18% GST. And there are no add-ons to buy: languages, live transfer, CRM capture, WhatsApp sending during calls, transcripts and recordings are all part of the product, not upsells. Recordings are kept for 90 days in your dashboard.

Pricing models you will see in the market

When you compare AI calling software in India, you will come across a few common pricing structures. None is automatically better; what matters is the total for your usage.

  • All-inclusive per minute — one rate covers telecom, speech, voice and AI. Easiest to forecast. This is Botify's model.
  • AI-only per minute, telecom extra — a lower headline rate, with call charges (and sometimes speech or voice) billed on top.
  • Per seat or licence — a fixed monthly fee per 'AI agent', sometimes with a minute allowance and overage charges.
  • Per successful outcome — charged per qualified lead or booked appointment, usually at a higher effective rate.

Questions to ask any AI voice agent provider

  1. Is the telecom call charge included in the per-minute rate?
  2. Are speech recognition and the voice included, or billed separately?
  3. What is the billing increment — per second, per minute, or per started minute?
  4. Is there a number rental fee, and is it an Indian +91 number?
  5. Is there a minimum monthly commitment or minimum wallet top-up?
  6. Do regional languages cost more than English?
  7. Are recordings and transcripts included, and for how long are they kept?
  8. Is live transfer to a human included?
  9. Are prices quoted with or without GST?

Write the answers side by side and multiply by your expected minutes. A low headline rate with three separate add-on charges often costs more than a single all-inclusive rate.

Six ways to keep your voice bill low

  1. Write a focused briefing. Tell the agent the four or five questions that matter and in what order. Every unnecessary question adds seconds to every call.
  2. Send details on WhatsApp instead of reading them out. A price list or brochure sent as a PDF during the call is clearer for the customer and shorter for you.
  3. Transfer hot leads early. If a caller is ready to buy, let the agent put them through to your team instead of continuing a long AI conversation.
  4. Set sensible calling hours and retries. Calling when people are likely to pick up means fewer wasted attempts.
  5. Clean your lists before a campaign. Remove duplicates, wrong numbers and people who have already asked not to be called.
  6. Review transcripts weekly. They show where calls drag — usually a question the briefing does not answer well.

Is ₹5 a minute worth it? A quick comparison

The obvious benchmark is a telecaller. As an illustrative assumption, take a salary of ₹15,000–₹20,000 a month for one person working one shift — before phone, SIM, hiring, training and supervision. At 300 to 600 calls a month of about two minutes each, the AI's call minutes come to roughly ₹3,000–₹6,000 plus the ₹500 number. At very high volumes the minute charges can match or exceed one salary, and a telecaller who is genuinely busy all day can work out cheaper per talk-minute.

But cost per minute is not the only thing you are buying. The AI calls every new lead from your website form, WhatsApp or Meta lead ads within about a minute during calling hours, answers your line 24/7, speaks several Indian languages, and leaves a transcript, recording and CRM entry for every call. Most businesses end up using both: the AI for speed and volume, people for judgement and closing.

Where the cost goes in different industries

Call length — and so cost — varies a lot by use case. COD order confirmations for e-commerce brands are often under a minute each. Service-due reminders for automobile dealers are similarly short. Real-estate and loan lead qualification calls are longer because the agent asks several questions about budget, location, timeline or profile. Inbound calls to a clinic or admissions office depend on how many questions the caller has. If you know your use case, you can estimate your minutes quite accurately before you start.

How to try it before you commit

The simplest test: call +91 80 6552 1614 and talk to Botify's own AI assistant in English, Tamil, Hindi or another Indian language. Or leave your number on our AI Voice Agent page and the agent will call you back in about a minute during calling hours (9 AM–9 PM IST). When you are ready, signing up starts a 7-day free trial with UPI or card autopay — remembering that voice minutes are always billed from the wallet at ₹5 per minute.
