MCP for Business: Connect ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini to Your Customer Communication

What the Model Context Protocol (MCP) is, why every AI app now supports it, and how Botify Assistance lets your business manage WhatsApp, SMS, Email, CRM and campaigns from a single AI chat.

In 2026, most business owners already use an AI chat every day — ChatGPT for drafting, Claude for thinking, Gemini for research. But there's a wall between that chat and your actual business: the AI can write a follow-up message, but it can't SEND it. It can suggest a campaign, but it can't run one. It doesn't know what your customer asked yesterday. The Model Context Protocol (MCP) removes that wall — and with Botify Assistance, your entire client communication becomes something you can simply talk to.

What is MCP, in plain language?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard — originally introduced by Anthropic, the makers of Claude, and now supported across the industry — that lets AI applications securely connect to external tools and data. Think of it like a USB port for AI: any app that speaks MCP can plug into any tool that offers an MCP server, with proper login and permissions in between.

Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini all support adding “connectors” — remote MCP servers — from their settings. Once a connector is added and you've signed in, the AI can see the tools it offers and use them on your behalf: reading data, taking actions, and asking your permission where it matters.

Botify Assistance: your business as an AI connector

Botify Assistance is the MCP server built into every Botify workspace. Add https://login.botify.in/mcp as a connector in your AI app, sign in with your Botify account, and your AI chat gains hands: it can look up customers in your CRM, read and reply to WhatsApp conversations, send campaigns across WhatsApp, SMS, Email and Voice, draft and schedule social content, and pull your billing and usage numbers — all scoped to your organization and your role.

This is what we mean by “one chat for all your clients”. Instead of opening the dashboard, filtering contacts, picking a template and pressing send, you type: “Send the payment reminder to every client with an overdue invoice.” The AI checks the list with you, states what it's about to do and what it costs, and executes when you say yes.

What can you actually do from the chat?

  • Customer lookups: “What did Priya from Chennai ask last week? Summarise her conversation.”
  • Follow-ups: “Draft and send a WhatsApp follow-up to every lead from yesterday's enquiries.”
  • Campaigns: “Broadcast the festival offer template to my Coimbatore customers tomorrow at 10 AM.”
  • Content: “Create this week's three social posts about our new pricing and schedule them.”
  • Operations: “How many credits did we spend this month? Which channel cost the most?”

Is it safe to let an AI touch my customer data?

The right question — and the reason MCP exists instead of everyone pasting API keys into chatbots. Botify Assistance uses OAuth 2.1, the same authorization standard your bank uses for third-party apps. The AI never sees your password; it gets a scoped token tied to a specific user in a specific organization. Every action runs with that user's exact permissions — a team member connecting their own AI sees only what they'd see in the dashboard. And actions that spend money — broadcasts, ads, AI content generation — always state the audience and cost first and require an explicit go-ahead in the chat.

Why this matters for Indian SMBs

Most Indian businesses run customer communication across three or four disconnected tools, and the owner is the integration. MCP flips that: the AI becomes the single interface, and Botify becomes the engine underneath. For a shop owner in Salem or a clinic in Coimbatore, that means the difference between “I'll do the follow-ups on Sunday” and “done before my tea got cold”.

Botify Assistance is included with every Botify workspace — no separate AI fees, no developer needed. If you can add a connector in your AI app's settings (it's two clicks and a login), you can run your client communication from a chat.
